Yeah, they're pretty Easy, actually they're the best caster class to begin with if you're new to the caster classes.
If you can get him to lvl 25 or 30, then you have enough skill to roll a mage or a Spriest :3

SL/SL is only good for arenas, and even then it's not that great.
If you're raiding, go UA (Unstable Affliction) and put the rest into Demonology (improved health stone, fel stamina, fel intellect).
