Well i don't play for the violent but just because their fun like WoW ( quests,raids, PVP) and i will have TF2 in min 2 weeks just becaus e it's fun not because i can use a flametrower to burn people =D

Hooray! Finally someone has found one of the real reasons people play FPS and other games. For the fun and thrill of it. Not so that they can train themselves to do bad things, although, there are people who do that, but not everyone who plays things like FF or CS:S are like that. Take that, Jack Thomson!
I actually played on a CS:Source server that was set up this way. When I killed someone, the enemy just dissapeard. Personaly, I play for the fun of beeing able to do somthing with friends, or others who share the same interest in games as me.
Honestly i think no parent that doesnt understand the achievement and fun in playing games has the right to talk about their children playing games, same goes with psychologists and whatever noob adult there. You know scat about what gaming really does to a person and what effects what unless you are a gamer and played video games for ages.
Finally they got something good to say about youths playing games! :D
the same old story and nothing realy new in this study. everyone who has to work professional with video games knows this (video game magazine reporters, psychologists, pro gamer). there are people who play video games because of the thrill AND there are people who play video games because of blood. it wouldn't make any sense if a company wouldn't try to get as many customers as possible. the same question: why do all female characters look like super models? because its equally difficult to design a ugly character as well as a beautiful character. sometimes you could also say its just more realistic if they blow up into thousand pieces when they walk onto a grenade.
another problem is the generation conflict. video games are brand new, most people over 50 don't know anything about them. its the same with our politics, they never had anything to do with it and have no idea how to handle the problems they cause properly. these people only know what the media tells them and if we talk about media of course we talk about bad news^^
they can make as many studies as they want, the problem only has a chance of being solved when the younger generations are grown up because they know about it. just think about some stupid ideas like "children are forbidden to drive in a car because 25km/h are to dangerous (not because of accidents, just the speed was to fast^^)" when the first cars were sold.

As most people have said, bad study. Do it for the group that matters: Under 18. At least they are doing the study at all...
All those fundamentalist christian morons can suck it once they do the study that matters :D.
Finally a game report that is RIGHT! Oh c,mon seriously I don't think anyone buys a game just because it has blood. They buy a game because It's fun and can tell limitless story's of what happen in Halo or in Left 4 Dead. That's the reason we have games It's fun!

I don't see how the "teleporting them home" thing changes anything, this study is stupid, it looks like there guts are being ripped apart into anti-matter, they should have used different games, not different variations on the same game.

Horribly study, I agree with Duoswordsmen the "problem" is with kids under 18. If your over 18 and problems with violent video games, shut up and don't play it, period.
Does anybody notice, that they color the combines completely red, setting viewmodel_fov to zero and only use the right mouse click-fire from the AR2 Gun? they say he's gettin' teleported home... but his matter is being destroyed xD
People Play Games for Game Play or Story or Great Graphics, people don't play games just to learn how to kill people, do people really go like "ok, the target is in sight, I have a clear shoot and now all i have to do is to press the left mouse button ...wait, WHERE IS IT!!11" This ain't no murder-simulator! :P
Only thing wrong with this study is that they tested this with kids 18+, not where the trouble really is. Personally I despise people who hate video games cause they are too violent and corrupt society, its a load of bull. This is one of those topics that WILL NOT ever go away though so people might as well accept the facts...
