The Legend of Silkroad

The Legend of Silkroad was released by Unico in 1999. There are three characters that can be played; Munmoo, Sochun and Jumuka. This is your basic beat'em up. Three buttons are utilized in this game; jump, punch/action, and magic. Use of a super-combo does extra damage to enemies but costs the player some life.

The cut-scenes are "Steven Seagal" low budget and not even worth watching. The game is oddly pretty entertaining. Graphic wise, they could be tighten up a bit on level 3. I'm trying to figure out how to set this game in bat-shit japanese crazy as it tends to be flow easy.

All in all, it's a decent beat'em up. Would have done considerably better if it was released back in the early 90's. Most likely, given it was released in 1999, some Chinese firm got their hands on some old Neo Geo boards and copied them. (more...)
