In the near future, the industrial company Pathopens becomes victim of a terrorist attack, which inflicts world devastation. And amongst the insuring chaos is Nick Stratum, an engineer, who wakes up to find himself 2,000 years into the future.

As he begins his journey, he encounters a mysterious race who's skin is completely grey.

Chapter I: Voice of Despair tells the opening segment of the story, introducing Nick Blacketer and shows the events which unfold that cause the world to fall into darkness.
