Often called just Robotron, was released to the arcades in 1982 by Vid Kidz for Williams Electronics. Robotron used two 8-way joysticks, one for moving and another for shooting which would be used later in Smash TV and Total Carnage, both released by Williams Electronics.

I thought this bit of trivia was pretty interesting:
Robotron 2084 is the "favorite game of all time" of game designer Eugene Jarvis, game designer Mark Turmell (NBA Jam and Smash TV), and musician/producer Todd Rundgren.
It is one of few classics I can go back and play constantly.

I got this free for the Xbox 360. It is freaking impossible. Smash TV was much better, if only for the animation - Robotron enemies jump instead of walk. I realize it's much older but those are my gripes.
