Onyxia - Shaman Solo (Elemental/Resto) World of Warcraft

I became incredibly curious one day as to whether or not I could solo Onyxia. I had never the dedication to finish the attunement quest prior so I had never had the opportunity to down her (as an Alliance shaman, anyway). I was almost absolutely certain I would not be able to kill her, resto or otherwise but was pleasantly (and somewhat disappointingly) surprised.

Took seventeen minutes with absolutely no hit besides my janky Draenei racial. Full restoration shaman gear (7.5 four-set with tier 8 legs) with bastardized elemental dual-spec (no Totem of Wrath) for farming purposes only. I never dropped below 95% mana (even without spamming Thunderstorm) and could take three or four flame breaths before hitting 50% health, to which I would simply pop a full Healing Wave and be back up to 100%, which worked out because of my other haste trinket only procs when casting healing spells.

While I am almost positive I walked into her lair with 100% durability, for whatever reason I ended up leaving with 13% even though I never died. The irony of this is that she drops 52g and that was exactly the amount I needed to repair at Exalted. My curiosity was satiated, but I may never attempt this again.

One thing I found strange was that for every knock back early on, I would end up popping up right where I was before I was pushed back. I also had no difficulty with whelps, as I plopped down a magma totem (with full points in Call of Flame and Elemental Fury) and they were quickly killed.

For those of you, especially resto shamans, wondering whether or not you can kill Onyxia, the answer is an unquestionable yes. I suggest using an elemental off-spec, as you will really need the lowered CD on lightning bolt to get through this fight in as little time as humanly possible. For shamans who are already elemental, you may quickly breeze through this encounter with your added hit. Everyone has always told me that it is easiest to do Onyxia as enhancement, but I believe that is besides the point. It's easy enough to begin with.
