Ninja Gaiden 2 blood and gore.................... Awesome! :P
this game has dropped its difficulty level considerably i mean the last one was so hard i didn't even bother getting the expansion for it but i gotta say i love playing ninja gaiden 2, and oreothewolf this game is only button mashing if you don't want to pull off cool moves, which the only person i've seen who has to do that is my friend who only played the game for like A minute.
I know exactly what I'm talking about. NG is not any harder than DMC3 was. While I enjoy DMC infinitely more, I have played both games and know what I'm talking about.
Darkside, I play NG2 the same way you described. But I don't find any joy in making a combo in that game. I feel like I'm detached from Ryu, that he's doing all this flashy stuff and I'm not controlling any of it. From what I've noticed, it doesn't matter what weapon combos you do in NG, because he just slashes around wildly anyway. I don't feel like I'm doing different attacks, just the same attacks with different animation.
and no, Agni and Rudra are not spammy. They can be spammy if you like to use tons of Crazy Combos, but that's not their strongest trait. They are the spammiest weapons in the game, but I've found Ryu's sword to be infinitely spammier than anything in DMC.
OreoTheWolf, you have NO idea what you're talking about. Just because the game can be played like a button masher, doesn't mean everyone does. DMC can be a button masher too, but there is NO "proper" way to play ANY game. It's up to the player to choose how he/she wants to play. I bet you're just a DMC fanboy who has never beat any of the NG games. NG is far harder than DMC and far better in my opinion.
I can button mash in Devil May Cry too, though. Just because a game can be played in a certain way doesn't mean it doesn't needs to be. To say that you can find a set strategy for EVERY fight, well, I can stand back in DMC and use million stab repeatedly, then free ride to escape the cluster of enemies. I can then charge in and do high time, air combo, high time, air combo, high time, air combo ad infinitum.
IF I really wanted to.
When I play Ninja Gaiden II I'm not looking to defeat my enemies in the quickest way, or find a strategy to defeat all comers. I'm looking to be a ninja. 80% of the time when I COULD finish off a group of enemies easily, I'll suddenly reverse momentum and do something like flip away and fire shuriken, or switch through weapons while attacking to make a flashy-looking combo. It's all in how you play it. It doesn't HAVE to be button-mashy, but it can.
Besides, don't get me wrong--i LOVE Devil May Cry; I've even got a Revoltech Dante figure--but you can NOT say that Agni and Rudra are the most "PUNCH THE CONTROLLER REPEATEDLY TO INITIATE A COMBO" weapons in the video game universe.
God of War is button mashy. Ninja Gaiden is button mashy. Devil May Cry is not. You CAN play it that way, but that's not the proper way and you'll get bad ranks all the way through. The action genre does NOT need to be a button masher.
And this game felt stale to me. I used the same tactics every time. Charge UT from a distance, dodge around until I was in a good position, slaughtered enemies, repeat. Any fight that can use the same tactics ever time is poorly designed.
"Button mashy and repetitive, with the same kind of enemies every time."
You just described the action genre. But at least in this case, because the enemy numbers are so overwhelming and because of the way their AI is, even if you're pounding on the controller in the midst of all these ninja/demons coming at you, it never feels stale.
This game isn't as good as people say.
It's really button mashy. There are different combos, but unlike a game like Devil May Cry, they seem to have little difference between them. The finishing moves and ultimate techniques look cool, but you aren't really controlling them. It makes it feel like you're watching something, instead of doing it. Even if it made you press buttons to keep the technique going, it would still be more engaging.
Button mashy and repetitive, with the same kind of enemies every time. Pretty much sums it up. Would make a better movie than a game.
seems cool, I liked the original so If I manage to get some money together I might have to give this one a try. Ninja Gaiden has come a LONG way since the NES days. Yes, I'm old enough to remember back to even the Atari spending hours playing Pong thinking that was the coolest game ever. In comparison now, it's just like seeing the INAC (if I got the acronym right), the first computer....impressive but ridiculously simple.
Great Review,I wasn't going to get it since I thought I wouldn't be able to cope, but it doesn't look as hard as the first one,it looks easier on normal than the first one,but harder on hard than the first one :P
Great Review,I suddgest MGS4 next since it should go unsaid anyway!
Nice preview
SUICIDE NINJA DOGS!!
NG2 isn't a platformer, it's an action-adventure game.
cool game :P
OMG AWESOME
