Okay so i have garys mod and ive screwed around with the graphics settings soooo much. When i play CSS and HL2 its perfectly fine, matter of fact, it looks uber :D .

just reinstall it, and if you want to keep downloaded things, just cut and paste all the downloads somewhere safe, so after you reinstall it, you can slip them back in.

on a side note.... seems to be a lighting (hardware or software) issue (blue&black squares are the "null" lighting surface for the source engine)

Hmm.. It looks like you tried to get a custom skin in the game and you're missing a file now. Did you try to get a skin in the game? You'll probably have to reinstall.
