What I did was threw a grenade onto the floor, and just as that one went off I threw another one on top of it. This launched the second grenade into the air, where I shot it down cowboy-style.

Actually Redeemer, it is not possible. I've tested this in HL2, HL2DM, GMOD, HL2:EP1, HL2:EP2 and HL2DMPro. Using a revolver, Crossbow, Shotgun , SMG and AR2.

Yeah as others have pointed out, you can't shoot grenades to make them explode. He just timed it out.
