Lighten the hell up unless you know what you're talking about. These dogs can kill you in seconds in a pack of three when you first start out, and even if you manage to kill them if they've clawed you you'll be bleeding for a while. Think of these things as Pseudogiants (look it up if you don't know what it is), they're pretty much the same thing.
Why is it so satisfying to pour hot lead into the corpses of your fallen enemies? They're not ******* dogs, they're mutant creatures, they're not nice at all, as soon as they get hungry they maul anything in sight! They just make cute noises so you won't want to kill them so they can come back later and claw at your face.

I understand what keyblock says, but I still think it's horrible. Just avoid them. If they come for you, then attack.

Everyone those dogs are mutant, they are blind dogs that suffer much and are born that way. They live in packs and its anything eat anything out there. So mainly if you don't kill them..They'll kill you..
