The unique Energy Weapon.
- This weapon cannot be wielded by NPCs.
- This weapon has minor splash damage. When you aim it at your feet and shoot, you will receive damage.
- The knock-down effect is much more powerful than the one made by the Victory Rifle.
- There is no weapon currently known that can repair the Gauss Rifle.
- At a high Energy Weapons skill it can rival even the Terrible Shotgun in damage-per-shot, making it one of the strongest weapons in the game.
- Because of its common ammunition and high damage, it has one of the highest resource-damage ratios in the game. Equally however, due to its unique status there is no other way to repair the weapon other than bringing it to an NPC, which means that over time, its effectiveness diminishes.
- Within the Anchorage simulation ammunition is far more limited, and can only be found laying free on counters, often near ammunition supply devices. Even with this limitation, the Gauss Rifle makes the sniper loadout (with it's .308 Sniper Rifle and 19 rounds of ammo) mostly redundant.
- The slugs which this weapon fires appear to be fed through a magazine on the right side of the weapon. An entire Microfusion Cell is used to power each shot.
- It is possible to to have 2 Gauss Rifles outside the simulation (1 being from the VSS Armory). This is possible by exploiting a glitch that allows the player to take out equipment from the simulation during 'Paving the Way' Quest until the end.
