Released in 1981 by Nintendo, Donkey Kong is often credited for being one of the first games to incorporate a storyline. Nintendo unsuccessfully released Radar Scope which left Nintendo with a large inventory of unsold machines. They gave Shigeru Miyamoto (later created Zelda, Star Fox and other famous Nintendo franchines) the task to convert the Radar Scope machines into a new game. Mario makes his first appearance in Donkey Kong which he would later spawn into another successful series, Mario Bros.
