Descent

This is the first level of Descent, the 1996 shooter from developer Parallax. Descent introduced "six degreees of freedom;" basically it provided the movement capable of a flight sim in a confined environment like Doom. The end result was incredibly fun, particularly the multiplayer matches, requiring mastery of a fairly complex set on controls and spacial awareness.
This is actually a video of the DX1 Rebirth project, bringing the engine a little more up to date with OpenGL acceleration and higher resolutions. The original game, of course, used a software renderer.
I used to play this game with the Gravis Phoenix flight stick, ideally suited for the complex controls of Descent other than the fact that it would break so easily.
