    BabylonRocker says:

u dont need to record directly from the game, there is an much easier way

Make sure the console is enabled by going to Options > Game Options > Enable Console [YES]
While in-game, open up the console with ` and type "/record test" (replace test with whatever you want your demo to be called) and hit enter. You should now see the text "RECORDING test: 10k" in the bottom left hand corner.
When you are done recording, open up the console again and type "/stoprecord" and hit enter.
    * Close out of Call of Duty and go to "C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\main\demos". You should see a file called "test.dm_1". Right click and copy that file.
    * Now go to "C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\Mods\ModWarfare" and create a folder called "demos". Open that folder and paste "test.dm_1".
    * Open CoD4 Multiplayer back up, and click the Mods button at the main menu. Select "ModWarfare" at press Launch. Call of Duty should restart, this time with a blueish tint.
Now, open up the console and type "/demo test". Your demo will now be loaded and played back. There are no control functions (pause, rewind, etc.)
Type /disconnect to close out of your demo.
*Steps 4-5 will not be necessary when (if) a patch is released that allows demos to be played back from regular CoD4 instead of just ModWarfare. Reference.

    Benefits of recording with demos:
-Very small file size allowing you to capture lots of footage.
    -No lag/FPS hit when recording
-Ability to turn your graphics up when recording
-Ability to use recorders that Punkbuster doesn't like, such as Gamecam
