  • WeGame hack tolerance?

    Zorlac,

Get off your high horse for just a minute and realize that games are meant to be enjoyed. If a kid has fun shooting through walls in Counter Strike, power to him. I still play Starcraft on B.Net regularly and since that game is ancient and barely monitored anymore, I simply assume my opponent(s) are maphacking. This hasn't stopped me from enjoying the game for 8+ years.

If I run across hackers, I either smile and enjoy the show or if I'm in a serious mood, I leave and find a new server or play with friends via private rooms or Hamachi. (VPN)

Bringing morals into this discussion by advising Bill to take a 'class on morals' puts you in the realm of absurdity. There is nothing at all, in any sense of the word, immoral about writing/using hacks for a game. If using such programs violates the terms of a particular service (such as battle.net) you may be banned from such services but that does NOT make it 'immoral.' If someone doesn't play a game the way you think they should, you label them immoral. Sad, really.

As for the current policy 'hurting the site.' I feel allowing this sort of 'homebrew' content gives the site a more personal feel. Banning all private server / hacking related videos (as you suggest) would take away the close gamer community atmosphere and replace it with a canned corporate feel.

  • Very good (and educated) read on Piracy.

You played MapleStory for 590 hours and you're calling RuneScape a bad game lololozolzol

And why all this hate? Life's too short for hate.

Zorlac, how could you possible call listing several top quality free to play games advertising? Were they links? No. I could just as easily made them links to each of the specific game pages on my site but I didn't.

Also, a new game came out 2 days ago called Runes of Magic, its just like WoW but free so go ahead and try it. I bet it'll make you fume

  • Hi, I am new here.

Indoctrinating the new users to hate me? Looks like I left a permanent mark on the WeGame community ;)

  • Very good (and educated) read on Piracy.

Full disclosure: I did not read the entire article.

I don't understand why this is such a big issue with you. People will take things without paying if they can get away with it. Because of the way the internet works, it is not (and never will be) feasible to punish/stop individual pirates.

What has to happen is developers/publishers have to change their tactics. This has already started in a way. Video games are turning from a fixed product into a service, which cannot be 'stolen.' World of Warcraft is free to download but playing on the official SERVICE costs $15 a month. Another approach is to give away the product 100% free and charge for extras. The free to play model originated in Asia where piracy is far worse than it is in the West and today these games are taking the West by storm. I've personally played over 150 free online games -- many with quality that matches any traditional game. Atlantica Online, Savage 2, Project Torque, Combat Arms, etc.

Services like Steam are another example, though imperfect (at stopping piracy) they make it far more difficult than just generating a cd key. I pirated Left4Dead to play it lan since I didn't feel like buying 4 copies on steam and while it works fine, its in Russian and I had to jump through several loops to get it working.

  • Manga Fighter VS S4 League

I realize this your opinion but.... You rated Manga Fighter higher than S4 League in graphics and gameplay?? I played both and found Manga Fighter very lacking. You play as a giant teddy bear and the movement/game speed is MUCH slower than in S4.

Manga Fighter is better for a young audience but anyone posting on this forum is advised to try S4 League if they're looking for a new online shooter, skip Manga Fighter.

To learn more about either game, check out my site ;-)
