You should check out this video encoder called SUPER. It's worked pretty well for me. The quality is very nice.

Just record at 1280x720, edit your video, save it as an uncompressed AVI, then render it in SUPER in H.264 with the .mov container with a bitrate of 6000. The file size for me was around 50MB per minute of video, not much more than your 277MB six minute .wmv for your Mass A.I. video.
