How do u do the editing and songs... im a noob i need help

I was wondering how u did ur editing on the videos. When i tied to import the recorded vids to movie maker they played fine at first, but once i add the to the time panel all i see is a black screen with nothing there, not even sound. U know by any chance how to fix this? or maybe u didnt use movie maker?
