In February 2008, GameStop listed December 3, 2008 on its website as StarCraft 2's release date.

No StarCraft 2 until 2009

In June 2008, during Blizzard’s World Wide Invitation in Paris, Blizzard’s Game Design EVP Rob Pardo said the game would be in a "nearly finished" state by the end of the year. This confirms that StarCraft 2 will probably ship sometime in early 2009.
