For PVP, there are a few popular Mage builds that are both viable and totally at the mercy of the user's preferred playstyle. Below are the most reconised Mage PVP builds.

Frost:

This build has a lot of survivability, aswell as improved counterspell and Torment the Weak, which works well with deep freeze and other slowing effects the mage has in their arsenal. This build in fact, has the most survivability across all of the Mage PVP builds.

Fire:

This build is a very situational fire damage spec that relies a lot of procs and impacts such as your fire shield and wards. This is a common fire PVP build for Mages as it utilizes both damage and snares.

Arcane:

This build allows good use of arcane spells and slow, and is very consistent damage. This spec also makes good use of the talent Impact that has 10% to stun the target, which works for all spells.

This build is great for kiting and instant cast spells, allowing you to keep melee away from you, whilst running and casting instant spells, a great spec for arenas that allow LOS abuse.
