I just realised the GTA IV video in my likes list has been removed due to a "copyright claim". I assume wegame takes the same approach as youtube that if a copyright holder wishes to withdraw a video,they may. I was just a but curious on the policies and how it works that's all. What kind of tolerance is there etc?

Essentially, our first priority is obedience to the law. But if you're interested in more practical terms about what happens, here you go: 1. Someone uploads a video with material that is potentially protected. 2. The copyright holder emails us a DMCA Takedown Notice. 3. We remove the video and email the uploader notifying them of the takedown and their right to protest it. 4. If the holder chooses to protest it, the video is re-uploaded. It gets more complicated from there.
Signature is currently undergoing bug testing.

Ye like if the user protests and it's back up,then the copyright owner can probably sue etc. I guess you can guess what happens then really... Out of interest Rockstar weren't unhappy with fan/user movies "using" gta4 were they? They were just unhappy about "leaked" footage right? Otherwise my machinima series is going to take a blow XD

Actually, Jeff, your point #4 is incorrect. If the original uploader believes that the uploaded content for which a DMCA complaint/takedown was received was not a violation of the DMCA/copyright (or fell under Fair Use, etc.), the site has to restore the video. At that point, the alleged copyright holder would have to sue to have the video taken down. The DMCA takedown process is well documented. Google will reveal all.
