I know it's another sound question.
When I'm watching some of the movies I've recorded I ocassionally hear a ver loud static type *burst* of sound, then the sound returns to normal.
I don't hear this while I'm playing the game, and was curious as to what's cvausing it, and how to get rid of it, or rather keep it from being recorded.

There's nothing we can do about the sound issue.
The Stereo Mix device in Vista is implemented in software by Microsoft (as opposed to being part of the sound card driver on XP), and the only options for it are changing the sample rate and volume and a few other settings.
There's no way to increase the quality on it, unfortunately.
We're currently working on a system that will let everyone record lossless sound without having to jump through any hoops.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
