Specs:
Amd Athlod 64 3200+ (overclocked to 2.55 Ghz)
Nvidia 7900GT
2 GB DDR-400
Creative Audigy 2ZS
I tried using the WeGame client with Team Fortress 2, but was experiencing a lot of lag (frame rate going from 60 to 25) and general choppiness.
Is my single-core CPU to blame? (TF 2 is perfectly smooth while not recording)
Note: I followed all steps in the help section (V-sync disabled, no extra processes running, etc)
Edit: Running low quality video mode of course

Short answer: yes.
To get an idea of why it lags, imagine hitting they key to take a screenshot and then resizing to 640x480 and saving that as a high-quality JPEG in photoshop.
Now imaging doing in 20+ times a second. On a dual-core CPU it works because all the image processing is moved off to the other core, allowing the game to run normally.
Just out of personal interest, why are you using single core? The rest of your hardware seems much more modern than the CPU you're running.
I'm just curious - I still have my old 4200+ X2 here (overclocked to 2.4ghz) with a 7900GS and it records HL2 and stuff really well...

Thanks coedman, for the detailed response. Never thought of it like that (d'oh!)
I use a socket 939 board, and where I live the dual-core processors are out of stock (they have been out for the last 8 months or so). So I am stuck with this single-core until at least my next motherboard upgrade. I'm still poking around for a second hand chip.
Thanks again for the help, I will be sure to recommend this program to all my buddies.

No problem. When you stop and think about it, video involves a huge amount of data and processing power. It wouldn't be such a problem but you're trying to run a game at the same time. Still managing like 25fps is doing pretty well heh.
If you really want to record, setting your resolution in-game to the same as we record at will eliminate the resizing and might speed things up a bit. That would mean running at 640x480 for web mode or 1024x768 for HD mode though. I can't remember the last time I saw a game at 640x480 lol
Pity about the cpu, things are cheap as now so everyone else still using one probably did the same thing lol. Postage might be cheap if you scored one on ebay or something without the heatsink... Where do you live if you don't mind my asking?

The real problem with dropping my resolution is that I use a LCD, so it naturally looks bad at a non-native resolution.
I live in the middle east and generally postage runs to a $50 - $100 and isn't worth it that way. But there is a local auction site, so I am fishing around there.

Dropping res on an LCD looks ok if you can turn off scaling, I do it on my laptop to run crysis since the video card isn't up to running at the native 1920x1200. If you have an nvidia card you should be able to do this pretty easily.
Looks a bit odd with the huge black areas around a tiny game screen though lol

What do you mean by scaling?

The stretching that LCD monitors do when you run a resolution lower than their native res.

Basically, the game will run at the correct resolution, but it won't fill the screen.
You'll see black around the game.

I really dislike the black bars. It's one of the reasons I stuck with a 4:3 monitor (I play alot of older games).
Thanks for the help though.
