Steam is a program, you register, you can buy games, create custom maps for that game with some tools, add servers in a game to favorites as long as it's online, add friends, play with friends, buy more games, get more friends, play more games, buy more games, there is VERY many people who use steam aswell and the last thing, you'll end up being a geek playing Counter-strike: Source all day.

ok so the only good ingame things are xfire and steam and when i say good... well we will get to that

anyway xfire is shite it looks horrible interface is horrible technically it does tonnes more but they still manage to make it hateable steam looks good works well does less - still sucks ass for the sake that its just godamn hateable


someone needs to make one good ingame communications program i dont know why i just despise whats currently out there

you need steam for valve games and at least the join game works so thats a +

Steam is good, but it isn't the best. For example, you have to wait a long time to download a game, if it's a big game that is. Like now, I'm downloading GTA IV and it takes about 4 hours -.-

Steam is a necessity to any PC gamer imo.
