“An electromagnetic "black hole" that sucks in surrounding light has been built for the first time.
The device, which works at microwave frequencies, may soon be extended to trap visible light, leading to an entirely new way of harvesting solar energy to generate electricity.
A theoretical design for a table-top black hole to trap light was proposed in a paper published earlier this year by Evgenii Narimanov and Alexander Kildishev of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Their idea was to mimic the properties of a cosmological black hole, whose intense gravity bends the surrounding space-time, causing any nearby matter or radiation to follow the warped space-time and spiral inwards.
Narimanov and Kildishev reasoned that it should be possible to build a device that makes light curve inwards towards its centre in a similar way. They calculated that this could be done by a cylindrical structure consisting of a central core surrounded by a shell of concentric rings ”
If used right we might be able to revolutionize how power is used. I find this a huge breakthrough.

A long time ago Tensiu Origano started being an asshole. He wasn't before. It all started when he got pissed off and went on a rampage of locking posts that didn't even need to be locked. A bunch of users (including Hevgirl, Blubo, and Zorlac) all signed a petition to get rid of him as a moderator. We got like 19 signatures but they still kept him as a moderator and he's been an asshole since. Anyways, on topic. This whole thing will probably create some stupid conspiracy theory and everyone will flip shit until the government tells them to stfu. Other than that, if they can make an alternative fuel source, it would be great. I for one, find the extremely simple yet really complicated magnet energy generator to be the most promising.

As for conspiracy theories, they are a by product of society and government, its a symbiotic relationship. Much to the dismay of intelligent people everywhere. My comment was a meant as a light hearted joke, with full undercurrents of defeatism. (As for the Zombie Apocalypse, I am ready no matter what)

Anyway, I wish we had a more open policy here in the US for scientific discovery, but until as a species, our higher brain evolves and kicks in, we are bound by what rules us, and so we suffer, grow, progress and regress as the whims of society see fit. Till that day, I will keep wishing on a star for my car that runs purely on waste water, and produces choco milk and hotpockets as a waste product!

Conspiracy theories can be damn funny, if people takes them seriously. Maybe I shouldn't, but Isn't that funny, when people belives that America don't exist, Elvis' still alive, aliens crashes their ships all the time (they must be really stupid if they can't fly in them properly, lol) and WWII is just a lie. I can laugh or cry, and I don't waste tears. Foolishness ftw, eh.
