WARNING BLOCK OF TEXT, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! Well, I'm normally a shy person about making machinima, I never made one in my life, This could be a real huge flop for me.. But it CAN make my Machinima making skills go up, well here it goes. Game: Garrys mod Place: Somewhere in Russia (or canada) Time: 2 Years before the Combine Invaded Earth Main Character: Jospeh Stein Single player or multiplayer?: Don't know. Whats it about? : Its about some people conducting "Experiments in the Tower, They Discover the gateway to the SAME place at black mesa, Instead of a lab expirment gone wrong the whole city is in shock. people Flee, Riot and Try to Live... Genre: Horror Plot: At the Tower (The nexus) The Police were letting some scientists conduct "Experiments" On Some A Unknown Artifact discovered deep in a mine in underground russia. Without Positive Agreement from the Mayor, In Cornon It all took place in the tower that day, That the..."Thing" Was born.. The Artifact that they brang in Somehow screwed the whole city into hell, They had to quarantine us. To let Them live, No one was allowed in or out. They thought they could've been infected. they shot us on site, It was hopeless to survive. I Lasted another god damned day in this apartment... Stinking Hellhole now, Well As long as i can get through this...Maybe i can get out of here.. -End Journal Entry 5th. (Done) I might not even do it at all, Hell even people are allowed to do this story i made WITHOUT my reccomendation. |

Hi was just looking at what you wrote and I think you should know Gmod is a bitch to film on trust me. You seem to have a good idea but a bit to much for your first project. It will be hard to film all of that on Gmod have a look around at some other games like halo 3, GTA, sims ..... just have a look around before choosing the game you want. Hope you get the show uploaded I will be the first to watch it :D |

If you're starting out,or just a novice,no matter which one of those two or other situations there's only one thing that gets your ball rolling and experience up... Start with a few comedy/action shorts,pick a project that's simple,doesn't require special effects,and is dialogue/story driven rather than lots of cool stuff happening on screen,once you're confident with making regular machinima,THEN start using special effects and having more complex scenes with action films etc. But seriously,everyone I know and every famous machinima guy comes up with a basic concept like "Rip a song from a cd,have a guy stand still and dance to it in Wow,and then call it a music video". There may be tons of them,and they may be crap,but you'll be better off in the long run after a few videos finished. Your script is great,but as zacconnolly said,it may be a tad bit overambitious...

Heh, True Movie maker. Hopefully a nice C18 little preview of it, I want to learn how to overlap the things on sony vegas, I'm Very new to it and don't know what i am doing and i got Platinum :X

Oh right you've got Movie Studio Platinum one not the actual vegas. That's good because I started on Movie Studio Platinum as well,and that's how I got to know Vegas inside out before learning what the "true" vegas had as extras. I can't really offer much advice tbh,since it's something you work out on your own over time,I never said I was good at machinima,but I kind of understand it if that makes sense :P If you want any help with vegas I could screen record specific queries you might have,such as your overlapping and custom cropping and masking etc. I'm here to help as much as the next guy,so if there's any one thing or few things you want to know,shoot.

Um,I guess that you mean just adding overlays :S Just look to the left of the timeline where there are "segments",right click in the blank and add a video timeline,then just put your object on the top timeline to be on the top layer of the project. PNG images will have their backgrounds removed if you have photoshopped them correctly. As for video you can use "chroma key" and take out certain colours to be able to see your bottom layer media underneath your top layer media. Is that what you meant?
