Hey all worried about price of programs and want to make a simple movie. Well I have a few programs and instructions that can help. All the following programs are completely free and can be used in the process of making a wow video:
-We game (to take video with)
http://www.wegame.com/download/
-Fraps (I used free trial version, I use it to take in game photos, no water mark ftw)
http://www.fraps.com/
-Windows movie maker
comes free with windows
or
-imovie
comes free with macs
-Gimp
http://www.gimp.org/
-Wow model and map viewer (PC)

-Wow model and map viewer (MAC)

After you have downloaded the programs and go instal them. Next figure out what you want to do. For this I will give an explanation on how to make a character wave against a background from a third person perspective.
First open up the map viewer along with the trial version of Fraps. Go around the map viewer till you find the place were you want your character to wave. Using Fraps, take a in game picture of it. Close or minimize those programs and open up your model viewer and then Wegame. Load in the picture you just took by going to file import background or hit "L". Congratulation, you now have your background. Next find and make a character in the model viewer that fits your needs. Move your character into position in the model viewer by using "mouse 1" "mouse 2" and the "wheel on the mouse". This will allow you to manipulate the position of the character. Next start filming with wegame while your character is doing the action (in this case waving). After you are done filming import those videos into your video editor. Chop off what you don't need and fiddle with it till the video make you happy.
If you think this will not work, THINK AGAIN. My newest video I just put out uses all the programs and instruction that I just listed above (have a look your self http://www.wegame.com/watch/Meganerd/). The only thing I had to pay for way the monthly cost of wow.
There are a few drawbacks to this method. First off you can't have a moving background with a character on it, so all you shots have to be still if it is involving the model viewer. Second is you can't have multiple objects moving, this is because you can only view one object in the model viewer.
Other wise it is a cheep easy way to make a video.

So have fun!
Films don’t spread because people love them. Films spread because people talk about them.

Ah, I just now saw that you put GIMP in that list Bioman! Good man! GIMP is very useful and you can use it for sprays for games like CS:S and TF2 ^^
