So if anyone has ever seen Illegal Danish 2 you will see that in some parts Myndflame actually makes their characters look like their talking. I've seen this in other videos as well but I figure I can give out a little trick on how to do this easy.

First you have to download the program called Crazy Talk. Download the trial version. It dosn't let you save the talking so you cant put it into your video, but I explain how to do it here. Eventually you will have to buy it if you want to continue stuff like this. Having the full program makes this A LOT easier.

http://www.reallusion.com/crazytalk/

Go to youtube for a tutorial on how to use the program cause I don't have time to explain here. Now then, the first thing you need to do is open up WoW model viewer and take a Screenshot of your character.

http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t312/...

Import the screenshot into crazy talk and map out his lips, eyes and everything else. After that record your voice saying whatever. Then import that into Crazy Talk so your character has something to move his lips to. Now you have to download another program called Camstudio. This allows you to record your desktop and what your doing on it.

http://camstudio.org/

Go down to the "CameStudio" with the blue link beside it. Click the link to download it. After you've got camstudio it's smooth sailing. You've got your character talking to whatever you said and you've got the program to record it with. Record your desktop as you press play in Crazy Talk, making your character move his lips to the voice clip. Stop recording after it's done and import that little recorded clip into Sony Vegas or Adobe.

Afterwords, simply use the pan and crop tool to zoom in right on the box where your character is displayed talking. It should look just like a wow model viewer recording, just with the fact that his lips are moving. Put the voice recording underneath it and line it up so the lips meet the voice. Then simply use chroma keyer to edit out the green screen and you've got yourself a talking wow character in your machinima!

Don't know if there is an easier way to do that with the trial version. Every time I click a "help" link it says the site is down, so whatever. This works just fine either way since fraps doesn't record the crazy talk program and Wegame's recording thing doesn't work for me.

Even though it's very nice of you to show us all, it would be great if you'd put a video of yourself doing it, so we could kinda see the results.

Anyway, thanks alot man ;) .

Yeah I remembered about making the video right before I was about to go to bed. Lol. But I stayed awake for a little and quickly threw this together.

Or, you use the Source engine, so that it's real lipsynching and not some video workaround.

Still, for other engines it sounds like it could be very useful! Definitely better than a static head "talking".

CamStudio is pretty good - I use it to record I Wanna Be The Guy. I don't, however, use it to record anything in-game or anything for edit in Premiere Pro. Reason being is that it tends to be a resource hog on my machine... that and Premiere also has a problem displaying the imported footage... Some sort of codec discrepancy I presume.

To do anything with WoW Model Viewer, I use Fraps (http://www.fraps.com/) and Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/). Fraps has a free version, but the better version is through purchasing it. Audacity is a free open source program that can record from a few input devices.

When doing any kind of Machinima, it's always best to learn the programs you're going to be using to create the video(s). Having a crude storyboard helps as well as you can formulate exactly what kind of shot you're looking for with whatever characters you're going to use.

Compositing will probably be the toughest task as it will make your videos look quite a bit better if done correctly. I'll see if I can't make a video tutorial sometime soon about this.

Once upon a time, a young boy went to Canada. That boy realized that the ganja was decriminalized. The boy lived happily ever after.

Tacos.

Umm kind of off subject, but yeah. True. I view a machinima like an essay. I want a good beginning to get people hooked, a strong middle and a nice ending with sexy music.

But anyway. No problem JokeRR. It's what I do. ;)

But one thing...

You didn't "like" it D:

Or you could, you know, buy the software and get full exporting capability.

Personally, the program has its place, but it isn't the magic bullet people seem to think it is, and if I see one more hideously creepy animated head out of it I'll scream. It seems that most people who use it just don't tweak it at all, and half the time they don't even synch the audio to the mouth...
