There are two things this video doesn't communicate:
1. How much more fun this is.
2. How easy it was to do. It literally took about an hour to set up and I had to figure everything out as I went along. Once I get my tutorial up it should just take a few minutes for anyone else to do.
I hope you enjoyed this/had your mind blown. The tutorial is gonna go here once I do it. Edit: Here's the tutorial!
This is going to blow your minds how easy it is.
1. Download E-Speaking
2. Attempt to launch it. If it fails to launch and says you need SAPI, download that here.
3. After launching the program, you'll be greeted by an annoying tutorial and a lot of robot talking. When the tutorial opens, click "Do not show again" to turn it off. Also click off "Show tips at startup." Then click over to the speech tab and click off "Read messages over 25 characters." Your copy of e-speaking is now un-annoying.
4. Go to the commands tab and delete everything except "Standby." This will take a while, as it is a ton of commands.
5. Go to "New" in the commands tab. Under "Phrase" put "Full impulse." Under "type" select "Keyboard/Mouse," under action put "R," under "When Done Say:" type "Affirmative." All of these without quotation marks, of course. Then click "Add"
6. Go into your game and say "Full impulse" aloud. The program should say "Affirmative" and you should be cruising at warp 7. You've made your first voice command!
7. (Optional) If you're having trouble getting your voice commands recognized, click a voice command on the left, click the "Train" button below it, then say the word once. This will help the program recognize your phrases.
You can make additional voice commands by either:
1. Going into the STO key bindings menu and setting commands to simple keys on the keyboard. (For example, my shield redirection keys are now [];' for the purpose of e-speaking)
2. Going to your power screen and binding powers to your action bar. For example, if "Evasive Maneuvers" is in slot one, set the phrase "Evasive Maneuvers"
Note that e-speaking is a trial program. After 30 days you can no longer add or delete commands. The charge for it is 14 dollars. I plan to pay for it since it's a pretty solid program.
I'm still learning the program so this tutorial may change. If you guys have any questions or discover anything on your own, post in this thread.

“So how MUCh do you still have to do manually? Like do you still have to manually turn? target enemies? ” The two big commands I was struggling with was full impulse and shield power. It felt below a captain to have to move my mouse over to click the various shield sides. I think you could make it cycle targets pretty easily, and I'm pretty sure you could make it turn and stuff, but it'd suck pretty hard. You'd have to say like "Turn 20 degrees port" and then pass the voice control program like "Press A ten times." It can be done, and I might do it just to experience it, but I don't think I'd use it in the game. I'll probably just stick to shields, special abilities (I should be able to say "Evasive maneuvers!" and have it happen!) batteries and throttle controls. Contact me in the following ways:
