A friend and i went ahead and purchsed it on 360 so we could play split screen, and well I'll just say this about it. Previously I was calling Batman my GOTY, and well, this easily stomps anything I've played this year.
A simple explanation would be to say that it does what Hellgate London wanted to do, and it does it right. It takes the dungeon crawling loot grabbing gameplay of Diablo and Titan Quest, and puts it into a beautiful 3d world, and it adds....guns. Lots and lots of guns. EVERYTHING you do leads to a new gun. Questing? New gun. Killing random mobs? New gun. Opening a toilet to take a piss? New gun.
If there's one gripe I have about the game it's that there's no storage system, and that means you can't get too attatched to any of those cool guns. You simply don't have the inventory space, especially early on. on the plus side, the guns feel like they were ripped out of a FPS shooter, and not out of Fallout. So what you're getting here is a game with great gunplay, and massive open world, great graphics (some goofy shadows but you can overlook those), and well, it's simply gun.
I reccomend everyone give it a shot, be it on consoles, OR on PC. Hell, it's good enough to own on multiple platforms if you can afford it.
Oh, and Chad, i think you'll like this one a lot. It's a very fleshed out game with tons to do, and really is it's own game. Give it a shot.
I can't stop playing Borderlands.

“The game looks great. I've been looking forward to it for a while but Left 4 Dead 2 is so close! I'm going to be spending a lot of my time on that instead. I'm curious about Borderland's longevity, though. The game seems big, but will it still be fun after hitting the level 50 cap? The reviews say that the bosses aren't all that difficult.” I spent about 20 minutes fighting Skagzilla if that tells you anything. I also see this game being interesting long after L4D2. Not to harp on what I've already said about L4D2, but really, it's just more of the same, and L4D got boring pretty fast. |
